Two Compounds!

I was just reading an article done by Northwestern University chemists on how two compounds could protect against cerebral palsy. These chemist have perform studies on animals by given two compounds to animal fetuses. The study showed that the fetuses that went untreated died. But the one’s that got either one or both of the compounds where born normal. This is an amazing result, and could be used on humans in the future. Of course studies on animals well always be protested, until it happens to your family. So if your unsure what cerebral palsy does to the human body read on. Cerebral palsy affects your body movement by directly affecting your muscles, very painful for people. So you can see why these studies are important to fight of diseases‘.

I was just reading that a 18 year ban on news coverage of our war dead could be lifted. The man behind this is Defense Secretary Robert Gates and President Obama. The new policy will give the families the choice to let the press snap the photo’s or not. If the families say it’s ok for the press to take photo’s this will admit the press to the ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. This is the entry point that all of our war dead pass through. I’m not 100 percent this is really a good idea, you can never really trust the press. I think by letting the press in will only spark anger, which can go either way. The main focus is to respect our war dead with the most respect we can. And letting the press in isn’t the best way.

Powerful Performance!

Congratulations to Kate Winslet for winning her first Academy Award for best actress for her performance in “The Reader.” This Academy Award win will now but her on another level amongst actors. Her status and pay will skyrocket to a level she’s never seen. With this new level comes new pressures that could hurt her if not handled right. But I think she’ll do just fine. Although this is her first Oscar she’s been nominated five other times for best actress. The movies where, “Titanic,” “Sense and Sensibility,” “Iris,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Little Children.” So you can see she’s really not new to the pressure of performing under extreme pressure. I will end with this, now that she’s one of the top actresses in Hollywood she should run out and get a new Patek Philippe watch. With a watch like that it would send the message that she’s on top.

Unions Kill Businesses!

I have said this a thousand times, unions kill businesses, they really do. And this will happen within the auto industry. That’s because there’s a deadline coming, today that needs to be set and the United Auto Workers Union is going to be holding it up. The UAW thinks they’re helping the employees but their not. What’s going to happen is General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC are going to go out of business if the UAW doesn’t rework the deals with these companies. If the deadline to rework these contract aren’t in place by today the automakers might not get anymore money to stay in business. The only people to lose in a deal like that is the autoworkers, contractors and the American people. So please don’t try to tell me unions work, because they don’t. I once was in a union, and most of the time they did nothing for you. You’ll see what I’m talking about when the UAW brings down 2 major automakers within a year. Unions in any industry don’t work, they really don’t.
