Poor Choices!

The U.S. Government had made a really bad choice with passing this dumb 90 percent tax on bonuses. Now I’m just as mad has the next person at these crocks, AIG, Citigroup, Bank of America, Fannie Mae and a few others. And I don’t totally buy that these bonuses are for retaining highly skilled people. I say there a lot of skilled people out there that would gladly to the job without a bonus. What bothers me is that this new tax law, if signed into law could hurt the honest hard working employees that deserve their bonus. Here’s how this could hurt the honest people. The new law is based on total house hold income. So if someone working at AIG gets a $10,000 bonus for working really hard could lose 90 percent. This is how it will hurt this person, lets say this person makes $90,000 a year, then the bonus – $10,000 for a total income of $100,000. On their own this person would not receive any extra tax. Now add in their spouses income of $175,000 a year. Now the total income is over $250,000 a year, which now brings in the 90 percent tax on that bonus, that’s why I think it’s wrong. I don’t know if there’s a way to fix this, but it’s wrong to tax the total income. Taxing the crap out of good hard working people is wrong. If they want to tax someone they should tax only the top executives of the company, not the sales force or managers running the business. Maybe someone will get it right, hopefully soon.

Seniors, I came across a Medicare News Blog that offers some great information on topics like how to find a Medicare supplement . If you’re a senior finding a supplement for any of your coverage plans could save you money down the road. And finding a great provider isn’t easy, but their out there. And if your parent is a senior you should be helping them locate good information that could help them save money. Don’t do it for them, unless they ask, just point them in the right area. Anyway, once you find your source of good information stick with them, it could save you a lot.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke had stated to U.S. Congress that he never forced Bank of America to purchase Merrill Lynch. But just earlier this month Bank of America’s CEO Kenneth Lewis stated that it was made clear that the purchase must go through. CEO Kenneth Lewis said that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson threaten to replace the bank’s board members and himself if they decided not to go on with the purchase. Now with Ben Bernanke denying it, whose stating the truth? If you ask me their both crooks, their both liars. And because of their actions, the money we gave Merrill Lynch, about $20 billions we will never see. I think all three of these bone heads should face charges of some sort. Their not above the law, Congress should slam the door on them.

The Senate race between Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken ends the same way Democrat Al Franken wins the seat. Now the Minnesota’s highest court is ordering Republican Norm Coleman to pay Democrat Al Franken almost $95,000 to cover his court cost. This is because his appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court remained the same, he lost the seat. I read he lost the race by a touch over 300 votes, which is very close. Come the next election I would bet that Republican Norm Coleman will win that Senate election.

Now here’s what bothers me the most. Between these to yahoo’s they have spend almost $50 millions to win this seat. Why in the world are they spending that much money for a job that pays just under $200,000 a year? The only thing I can think of is that they have everything else, but now they want the status of being called a Senator.

Presidential Pardon!

We seem to have a request for a presidential pardon. The request and push is being lead by Sen. John McCain. He’s pushing for the presidential pardon for Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson was the nation’s first black heavyweight boxing champion in the very early years of the 1900’s. Johnson was convicted of violating the Mann Act in 1913 for having a consensual relationship with a white woman. The Mann Act is still a law today, but has changed a lot over the years. The push for the pardon is going to be a up hill battle for McCain. Not because Johnson was wrongfully convicted, but because Johnson is dead. U.S Presidents don’t usually pardon people that are dead, but have done so in the past. So it’s going to be a wait and see what President Obama will do. I personally think Obama will do it, but so far there’s no word out of the White House.

I was just reading that a 18 year ban on news coverage of our war dead could be lifted. The man behind this is Defense Secretary Robert Gates and President Obama. The new policy will give the families the choice to let the press snap the photo’s or not. If the families say it’s ok for the press to take photo’s this will admit the press to the ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. This is the entry point that all of our war dead pass through. I’m not 100 percent this is really a good idea, you can never really trust the press. I think by letting the press in will only spark anger, which can go either way. The main focus is to respect our war dead with the most respect we can. And letting the press in isn’t the best way.

President Barack Obama got his first bill passed in the House, which the Democrats rule. The vote was 244-188, with all the Republicans voting against it. I really don’t like seeing a bill pass this way, and I think Obama doesn’t either. President Obama personally went to the House Republicans to sell this package, which says a lot. But in the end, no support was given from the Republicans.

The reason why the Republicans are so against this bill is because they don’t feel there’s enough in the package to help. They feel there needs to be more tax cuts. And the reason why all the Democrats voted for it is because their Nancy Pelosi’s little robots. Their so afraid to vote against the bill or her because they won’t get the support when it comes time to run again for their jobs. We need to have a more balance House and Senate, it would keep everyone in check.

It seems the U.S. Senate has just put another crock into President Obama’s administration. The new head at the Treasury Department is Timothy Geithner. Before taking on this new job he was the President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank. If you don’t know why he’s being called a crock, well he’s why. There was a span of 4 years where he failed to pay income tax on money he earned as a consultant. A person that doesn’t pay his taxes is now in charge of the Treasury Department, only in America. And some of our Senate members fault the same way, he got 60 votes out of 94.

Today at 12:04 this afternoon President-elect Obama became President Obama, the 44th U.S. President. The amount of people that went out in the cold to watch history today reached over 1 million. I read that their where people crammed 10 deep along the route President Obama traveled, and thousands at the National Mall. This is a day a lot of people will never forget, mainly because Barack Obama is our first black President. He will be moving into a home that slaves help build, that’s history. I wonder what slaves where thinking when they took part in building the walls of the White House. If those walls could talk I would bet they wouldn’t say a word, but just simply smile. We’ve come so far as a young country, and if we want to go further we need to unite once again. President Obama has a chance to bring this country back together. And I sure hope he does just that.

Do you all remember this guy? He’s the guy who cornered Barack Obama about his tax plan. Now it seems that Mr. Joe The Plumber is heading to Israel to cover the war for a website I will not name in this post. He’s going has a war correspondent to cover how the “Average Joe’s” are handling the war. He plans to stay over there for about 10 days to cover the war. I would like to know if this guy is nuts, he’s not a reporter nor does he realize what’s he’s getting into. He’s going to get himself killed. When reporters head into a war zone their well funded and well protected. I sure hope the website sending him over there is somewhat funded and will provide him with protection, because he’s going to need it.
