When I came across this story I just needed to share it with all of you. Now here’s a woman, Nonna Bullock who commutes 280 miles roundtrip just to go to work. She does it because the people in New Orleans need her. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city and surrounding towns there was no one left to work in the hospitals. There were a total of six major hospitals shutting down. This left institutions like Tulane Medical Center to pick up the overflow of patients. Now other hospitals like East Jefferson General had steep reduction in staff as well. More than 100 of their nurses left after the storm and have yet to returned. Nonna Bullock said, “The people of New Orleans needed me.” And she’s right, they do need her.
