Hiring Yahoo Executive!

I was just checking out some tech news and came across something that I missed last Thursday. If you can’t buy them, hire them. That’s what Microsoft did, they hired a ex Yahoo executive Qi Lu to take over it’s Online Services Group. This group has been struggling really badly since Microsoft purchased it. Microsoft purchased aQuantive in May 2007 for a whopping $6 billion. And they took on their CEO Brian McAndrews to run the business. But McAndrews never lived up to what Microsoft wanted out of him and the company they purchased. So now Microsoft will hire Qi Lu to take over this part of the business. And who knows, he just might be able to turn things around for Microsoft.

Yahoo In The News!

There seems to be a new party looking to take over Yahoo. And it just so happens to be a single person making it a reality. And that person is Jonathan Miller, AOL’s former chief executive. Now this is still a rumor, but you all know how rumor’s like this become true. And the price he’s looking to pay is between $20 to $22 per share, Which comes out to $28 billion to $30 billion. This price is much lower than the bid from Microsoft, which was $47.50 billion just a few months ago. This just shows how bad the economy is, because Yahoo is truly worth more than what Microsoft offered. The only way I think Miller could make this deal happen is if he did a hostile takeover. I really don’t think Yahoo would agree to a $30 billion deal. Anyway, this news of the bid for Yahoo has made Yahoo stock go up 8 percent, and could very well go up more tomorrow.

Google And Yahoo!

It seems that the deal between these two is just about over. The deal was for Google to sell ads next to Yahoo’s search results. I read somewhere that Yahoo could have made something like $600 million in the deal. The two major problems they’re facing right now are the U.S. Justice Department and online advertisers. I also read that Google and Yahoo together owned more than 80 percent of the online advertising world according to comScore Inc. So you can see why this is a major concern to the U.S. Justice Department and online advertisers. Unless there’s a deal with the U.S. Justice Department this deal will never come together.
